Ever since I was young I felt like I was meant for big things. And somehow, as I got older and experienced my family's and society’s expectations of me, I ended up going the safe and expected route- get good grades, go to college, find a job that pays decent, and don’t ask for too much.
But going this route left me feeling unfulfilled. I became a teacher because that was a respectable job to have, but I made no money. So then I became a pharmaceutical sales rep, because I wanted to make money, but I still felt unfulfilled, hating my job, stressed out, anxious and depressed.
I finally had enough of the safe route and what was expected of me.
I left my corporate job because I wanted to make a bigger impact with the work I was doing. I wanted to feel good about what I was doing, and enjoy who I was working with. I wanted to have fun with my work, and be creative. I wanted to do work that could change someone's life, or how they felt about themselves. And I wanted to have more freedom in my schedule and what I did.
I dug deep within, and through a lot of soul searching and a willingness to take a chance on myself, I discovered that I was meant to help women feel beautiful and amazing about themselves by being a makeup artist.
I built a successful luxury makeup artistry business and became a highly sought after artist, with women telling me I was on their vision board to work with me! I had freedom in my schedule to work when I wanted to, and to take time off when needed, like when I had my baby and wanted to slow down.
I found not only fulfillment in my work because of the impact I was making, but also had so much fun, getting to be creative, and work with clients I loved. I traveled the world and went to cities I had dreamed of visiting, getting paid to do makeup in the most beautiful locations.
